A new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed assumed office at the oragnisation’s headquarters on Monday in Abuja.
He promised to adopt a policy thrust that would drive the organisation to a greater height.
Ahmed hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing him as the 22nd director general of the NYSC.
He succeeds Christy Uba who was named the acting director general of the NYSC last November, following the sacking of Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Fadah by President Buhari.
In a six-point agenda, the new director general promised to improve the security, welfare of corps members and staff members to engender optimal service delivery to the nation.
He also promised to provide an enabling environment for research and development (R&D) for the advancement of the organiation.
Ahmed stressed that strengthening stakeholders’ engagement for the promotion of the frontiers of the NYSC and enhancing capacity building to stimulate efficiency and higher corporate performance would be among his policy thrust for the organization.
The new NYSC boss also promised to deepen the impact of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme among the corps members.
He said: “I assure you that I will not only sustain the high tempo but, collectively, we will take the scheme to greater heights.
“This administration will be open and pay special attention to strategies that will bring the desired improvement in the general operations of the scheme.”
Uba assured the new DG that he would get maximum support from the management team for his success.
