The newly deployed Commandant of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has issued a strong warning to criminals operating in the state, telling them to leave immediately.

Abbas Mohammed cautioned criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs to stay away from Kwara State, pledging tougher action against all forms of crime.

He gave the warning in Ilorin on Wednesday during his maiden press briefing after assuming duty as the 16th substantive state commandant of the corps.

“Kwara State will not be a haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he said.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the state, Ayoola Michael, the commandant reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding critical national assets, and strengthening intelligence-driven operations.

Mohammed also promised closer collaboration with other security agencies, traditional rulers, and stakeholders to maintain peace and security across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.

According to the statement, he officially assumed duty on Monday following the redeployment of his predecessor, Bala Bodinga, to the national headquarters.

Michael added that Mohammed is an experienced security officer who previously served as Commandant of Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna.
