The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on residents to adopt New Year resolutions that would foster peaceful coexistence, unity, socio-economic revival, and improved security.
The monarch made the appeal in his New Year message released on Wednesday in Ibadan and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olugbemiga Ayoade.
Ladoja stressed the importance of unity and adherence to Ibadan’s cultural values as essential tools for achieving significant progress across all aspects of life.
“I urge both indigenes and residents to be resolute on the progress and unity of Ibadanland so that we may jointly realise the modern Ibadanland of our dreams.
“As for me, I have resolved to spend the rest of my life serving God and humanity as a good example for others to follow,” he said.
The Olubadan also used the opportunity to encourage all traditional title holders in Ibadan to align with his vision of advancing the city for the collective good of its people.
He noted that priority areas include security, urban renewal, curbing land-grabbing, reviving dormant companies, and safeguarding Yoruba cultural heritage.
In addition, he praised security agencies in Ibadanland and across Oyo State for their enhanced efforts in protecting lives and property before and during the festive period.
He, however, urged them to sustain and further improve on these efforts.
