The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has expressed sorrow over the tragic and senseless death of Nigerian national Emeka Christian in Pune, India, who was reportedly beaten to death by two fellow Nigerians, Chukwudi Okafor, 31, and Samuel Eze, following a romantic dispute.

NIDCOM Chairperson, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, offered her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones, emphasizing that no family should endure such heartbreak.

The statement, signed by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocol, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, noted that the commission has called on Indian authorities to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served.

“NIDCOM calls on the relevant Indian authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, ensuring that justice is served without delay.”

The commission also addressed Nigerians in the diaspora, emphasizing, “As ambassadors of our great nation in your respective domains, your actions abroad reflect on Nigeria’s image.”

It urged citizens to practice unity, respect, and adherence to the law in all circumstances.

“Violence has no place among us. Together, we can build a stronger and more positive diaspora community,” the statement added.

Finally, the commission encouraged all Nigerians abroad to support one another, resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue, and maintain the highest standards of conduct.
