The governor of Niger State, Umar Bago, has dissolved his cabinet.

In a statement released on Monday, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor’s chief press secretary, confirmed that Bago made the announcement during the state executive council meeting held at the council chamber in Minna.

The governor did not provide specific reasons for the dissolution.

However, Ibrahim noted that the governor retained key officials, including the secretary to the state government (SSG), chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and other principal aides.

“Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved his cabinet,” the statement reads.

“The farmer governor announced the decision during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Minna.

“He appreciated them for the services they had so far rendered towards the development of the state and wished them the best in their future endeavours.”

This is not the first time Bago has taken such an action. In July 2023, he terminated the appointments of all political officeholders appointed before May 29, 2023, and also dissolved all statutory commissions, boards, and parastatals in the state.
