Niger Govt donates ₦250m to Maiduguri flood victims

The Niger State Government has donated ₦250 million to assist flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Governor Umaru Bago led a state delegation to Maiduguri to express sympathy for the government and people of Borno, who have been affected by the flood that impacted over two million individuals.

Describing the situation as devastating and concerning, he emphasized the need for support from all compassionate Nigerians.

Governor Bago encouraged his Borno counterpart, Prof. Babagana Zulum, and the residents to remain resilient and maintain their faith in Allah, who never makes mistakes.

He urged the people of Borno to back their governor in his efforts to restore normalcy to their lives and livelihoods.

He also pledged to deploy health workers for medical assistance as needed.

In response, Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude for the Niger State government’s gesture, assuring that the funds would be wisely utilized to support flood victims. He praised Governor Umaru Bago’s developmental achievements and noted the strengthened relationship between the two states.

The Niger State delegation included members of the State Executive Council, Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman, special advisers, local government chairmen, and emirs from Borgu and Kagara.

Special prayers were held for the souls of the departed, healing for the injured, and for Allah to restore lost properties and livelihoods while preventing future disasters.

The delegation also visited the Shehu of Borno’s palace to offer condolences and seek royal blessings.
