At the presidential election held on Saturday in Enugu State, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee, was proclaimed the victor.
Atiku Abubakar, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, and Bola Tinubu, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress, came in second and third place, respectively, with 15,749 and 4772 votes, respectively. Obi received a total of 428,640 votes to defeat the other candidates. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party, received 1,808 votes overall, placing him in fifth place.
The results of the election were announced by Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, the collation officer for the presidential election in Enugu State and vice chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.
He claimed that 482,990 accredited voters out of a total of 2,112,793 registered voters cast ballots in the election.
Scores: 4772 for APC, 428,640 for LP, 15,749 for PDP, and 1808 for NNPP.
Iwe observed that there were 468,891 total votes cast, 456,424 legitimate votes, 12,467 rejected ballots, and total votes cast.
Also, the Labour Party overwhelmingly won each of the state’s 17 local governments.
