Nigerian envoy honours Flying Eagles in Egypt

The Flying Eagles were honored by Nigeria’s ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, for winning the bronze medal at the just finished Africa U20 Cup of Nations competition in Egypt.

On Saturday, Ambassador Rimi welcomed the entourage of the Nigeria U20 boys to the Nigerian Embassy’s town hall in Cairo, Egypt.

The envoy complimented the players and officials for successfully qualifying for the next FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Indonesia and expressed pleasure with the team’s performance during the event.

Rimi urged the Flying Eagles to represent Nigeria with honor throughout the international competition, which would take place from May 20 to June 11.

In response, the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, thanked the Embassy for its assistance to the team during its stay in Cairo, which helped the team finish third and earn a spot at the FIFA World Cup. He was represented by the Chief Technical Officer and former international player, Garba Lawal.

Ladan Bosso, the head coach of the Flying Eagles, also spoke, assuring the representatives of the Nigerian Embassy that the team was driven to perform better at the World Cup.

The envoy presented plaques of recognition to the Flying Eagles’ 21 players and 10 officials for admirably representing their country in Egypt.
