Governors from the 36 states of the federation are currently meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
They are convening at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory.
Some governors have already begun to arrive at the meeting venue.
Governors Lawal Dauda (Zamfara), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Alex Otti (Abia) are already at the location.
This comes as the governors of Enugu, Peter Mbah, and Borno, Babagana Zulum, have dispatched delegates to represent them.
The meeting agenda is not currently available to the public.
However, the governors agreed at the last meeting to pay Nigerian workers a reasonable minimum salary, and today is the forum’s first public gathering since President Bola Tinubu authorised a N70,000 minimum wage.
As a platform, the governors are likely to address the ongoing debate over the planned nationwide protest against bad governance, as well as the recent Supreme Court decision on local government autonomy.
