The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has inaugurated the third edition of the French-supported maritime exercise Crocodile Lift, designed to enhance amphibious operational skills.

Vice Admiral Ogalla was represented at the event by Rear Admiral Shehu Gombe, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Doctrine Command. The exercise took place on Saturday aboard the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) KADA at the Western Naval Command in Lagos.

In his address, the naval chief highlighted the similarities between Crocodile Lift and the recently concluded Exercise Grand African Nemo, noting that the exercise offers a platform for partners with shared security goals to implement African-led solutions to transnational threats and challenges.

He reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening regional collaboration to ensure the safety and security of the shared maritime domain, which is crucial for fostering economic prosperity.

Vice Admiral Ogalla also acknowledged the contributions of the Nigerian Navy, regional allies, and international partners towards enhancing regional maritime security, as demonstrated during Exercise Grand African Nemo 2024.
