Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said he was betrayed by his allies during the 2015 elections.

Speaking on Thursday at the 70th birthday celebration of Mike Oghiadomhe in Benin, the Edo State capital, Jonathan noted that many Nigerian politicians cannot be trusted.

“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals. I witnessed a lot of betrayal during 2015 election,” he said.

“You will find it difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and say the same thing in the afternoon and in the evening.

“They will tell you something this minute, and in the next hour, they will say another. For the next hour, they will say another thing. But, I am quite pleased to associate with Oghiadomhe.”

Jonathan praised Oghiadomhe as a dependable and trustworthy ally who could “take a bullet” for him.

“For me, he [Oghiadomhe] is somebody you can take his words to the bank. Most politicians, you can not take their words to the bank.”

Oghiadomhe was Edo State deputy governor from 1999 to 2007 and later served as Jonathan’s chief of staff between 2010 and 2014.
