Nine die, 12 injured in Kaduna car crash

The Federal Route Safety Corps has announced a four-vehicle collision on the Kaduna-Zaria road early on Thursday morning that resulted in nine fatalities and 12 injuries.

According to Hafiz Rigim, the Corps’ Kaduna Sector Commander, the accident occurred at around 5:00 am on the Rigachikun bridge, just a short drive from the National Open University.

Rigim claims that the accident involved a Toyota bus, a Toyota Camry, two DAF trailers, and two DAF trailers.

The injured victims and bodies were sent to Kaduna’s St. Gerard Hospital and Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, according to the sector commander.

Rigim stated that efforts were being made to remove the accident-related impediments while cautioning drivers and other road users to always follow safety regulations in order to protect lives and property.

Therefore, he cautioned drivers and other road users using the Kaduna-Zaria route of the accident and the current road construction at Kawo, Ragachickun, Mararaban Jos, Birnin Yero, and Jaji.

According to him, the collision involved two DAF trailers, a Toyota bus, and a Toyota Camry and was caused by speeding, improper overtaking, and loss of control.

“The injuries they sustained included fracture, bruises and head injuries.”
