NIPR appoints Rasheed Bolarinwa, Thelma Okoh, others as Chair Persons of Banking, Maritime, Aviation Hubs to deepen sustainable PR practice
The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed the President of the Association of Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB), Rasheed Bolarinwa, as Chairman of its newly created Management Committee of Finance Hub comprising banking, insurance, and pensions meant to deepen sustainable PR practice in the finance sector.
Others appointed as chairmen of the newly created sectoral hubs include; Mrs. Thelma Okoh (Maritime Hub); Dr. Jossy Nkwocha (Energy Hub); Mr. Basil Agboarumi (Aviation Hub); Dr. Ahmad Sajoh (Anti-Corruption & Consumer Protection Hub); and Miss Chimdi Neliaku (Young Practitioners Hub).
In a letter of nomination by the Governing Council signed by Uzoma Onyegbadue, the Institute’s Registrar/Secretary to the NIPR Governing Council, and sent to the newly appointed Chairmen, a copy of which was sighted by our correspondent, the Institute explained that the creation of the sectoral hubs was meant to build sustainable and viable public relations practices across the listed sectors.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Chairmen and Committee Members of the Sectoral Hubs, the National President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, in company with the Governing Council Members, expressed satisfaction with the pedigree of the nominees.
According to Dr. Neliaku, “Your appointment is considered well thought out and reflects the trust and confidence the NIPR Council places in your expertise, commitment, and dedication towards contributing to achieving the objectives of the Hub.”
While pledging his and the NIPR Governing Council’s support to the sectoral hubs, Dr. Neliaku said, “We look forward, with excitement, to working together with you all to make a positive impact on sustainable and viable public relations practices in the respective sectoral hubs in Nigeria.”
Bolarinwa, a distinguished and multiple award-winning public relations practitioner highly regarded in Nigeria’s PR and communication circle, has a good mix of academia and foot soldier experience in a field that has seen tremendous global growth, buoyed by the social media and increasing ability of the sector to safeguard reputations, support the development of brands, and enhance thought leadership.
With over 27 years of Marcom odyssey (post-qualification) experience that has seen him apply his well-honed skills in journalism, public relations, marketing, corporate communications, strategic brand management, insurance, consulting, and banking, Bolarinwa working with his select Committee members of the FinanceHub, is poised to bring his vast experience to bear in deepening a sustainable public relations practice in banking, insurance, and pensions in Nigeria’s finance sector.
He was re-elected President of ACAMB, the umbrella body of all Corporate and Marketing Communications Heads of Banks in Nigeria, in January 2024 after a Stellar two-term as Secretary General of the Association.
Bolarinwa, currently the Head of Brand Management and Corporate Communication at Polaris Bank, holds two Master’s degrees in Communication & Language Arts (Public Relations) from the University of Ibadan and an MSc in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
