A total of 5,099 Nigerians have so far been captured in the Nigeria Immigration Service’s special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom.
The latest figure followed the processing of 516 applicants at the London and Manchester centres on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Manchester recorded the higher number with 370 applicants, while 146 people were enrolled at the London centre.
Providing an update on the exercise, the NIS said, “The Special Passport Intervention Exercise continued yesterday across the London and Manchester Centers uninterrupted, with a total of 516applicants enrolled, 370 in Manchester and 146 in London.
“This brings the total enrollment since the commencement of the exercise to 5,099 applicants.
The service said work on producing and sending passports to applicants who had previously completed their enrolment was also progressing.
“The exercise remains ongoing, and applicants are enjoined to continue cooperating with officials,” NIS added.
The intervention was introduced on September 7 following a directive by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address the backlog of passport-related requests from Nigerians living in the UK.
The exercise covers new passport applications, renewals and other unresolved cases.
Although the programme was originally scheduled to end around the middle of September, operations in London and Manchester were extended because of the large number of applicants.
Those eligible for the intervention are required to secure appointments through the approved channels and appear at the designated centres with the necessary documents.
