The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is leading a protest to the National Assembly, demanding overwhelming votes from federal lawmakers ahead of the ongoing constitution alteration process’ clause-by-clause voting.

The labour leaders are requesting that lawmakers vote in favor of local government and judiciary autonomy.

They argue that the judicial arm lack of autonomy, as well as the third-tier government’s lack of autonomy, are incompatible with democratic principles.
