Chimaroke Nnamani, a former Governor of Enugu State, has reacted to his suspension from the People’s Democratic and maintains that there is no justice, fairness and unity in the party.
Nnamani also stated that the Party’s National Working Committee’s decision to suspend him was ill-advised and unjustified.
Additionally, Senator Nnamani claimed that he had not been told of any complaints made against him and that he had not been given a fair hearing.
According to reports, the PDP announced the suspension of the senator for Enugu East along with other party chieftains in the states of Ekiti, Enugu, and Imo on January 20, 2023, with the suspension taking effect immediately.
The senator in a statement signed on Monday stated that, “The PDP’s “Penkelemesi” suspension without hearing is incurably messy and will collapse.
“My decision to pitch tent with Asawaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was necessitated by the PDP’s refusal to comply with its own constitution to wit; that key political offices should at all times be rotated between the South and North to guarantee harmony, peace, fairness, equity and justice.
“As it is now, there is no fairness, justice and equity in the PDP because both the presidential candidate and the National Chairman are from the same region.”
The senator continued by saying that he was exercising his right to freedom of association and choice and that he supports Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress.
The legislator suggested that PDP leadership deal with internal party problems going forward, arguing that the NWC’s decision to suspend him was morally and legally flawed.
