The Federal Government arrived at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday to resume its fight against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who was previously cleared by the court of the terrorism charge against him.

The FG is seeking the appellate court to halt the execution of the ruling from October 13 that invalidated Kanu’s extradition from Kenya to Nigeria due to a violation of domestic and international law.

FG’s motion on notice would be decided by a three-panel of the court, according to an appeal notice with the designation CA/ABJ/CR/625/2025.

Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the legal team’s leader, and Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a senior lawyer, are present in court with Nnamdi Kanu.

Armed police officers were stationed at the court’s entrance, checking arriving cars and their occupants to prevent security breaches.

According to reports, on October 13 the Federal Capital Territory’s appellate court in Abuja upheld Kanu’s appeal.

Additionally, the court freed and exonerated the group’s leader.
