NNPCL stations increase petrol price to N1,030 in FCT

Transportation costs in the Federal Capital Territory are expected to surge following a petrol price hike at several Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) stations in Abuja on Wednesday.

NNPCL stations have raised the retail price of petrol from N897 to N1,030 per litre, as observed by our correspondent at multiple locations across the FCT.

This marks the second price increase within a month, reflecting a 14.8% or N133 rise.

At the NNPCL mega station in Central Area, a customer told newsmen that petrol was sold at N1,030 per litre.

However, the station did not display prices on signboards or pump meters, leaving customers reliant on verbal communication from fuel attendants to learn the cost of the product.

“I am very angry right now. I entered this station thinking their price would be better. It was only after I had wasted time in the queue that I was informed by the fuel attendant that the price had risen to N1,030,” said the customer, who did not give his name.

However, checks by our correspondent at independent marketers’ stations, including Conoil and Total Energies, opposite the NNPCL headquarters, showed the product was sold at N926, but with long queues.
