NNPP suspends Senator Kawu Sumaila for Party disloyalty

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended Senator Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South, over alleged anti-party activities and ties with APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Three other members—Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum—were also suspended, the NNPP leadership in Kano State announced on Sunday.

Kano NNPP Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, stated that the suspended members violated party principles by aligning with opposition figures, despite winning elections on the NNPP platform.

Dungurawa criticised Senator Kawu’s actions, citing his association with APC leaders at personal events, such as his daughter’s wedding and project inaugurations in Sumaila LGA.

He, however, noted that the party might reconsider its decision if the suspended members acknowledged their mistakes and sought forgiveness.

As of now, Senator Kawu Sumaila and the others have not responded to the suspension.
