Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, stated on Thursday that there are no known bandit camps within the state.
He clarified that most of the bandits operating in Kebbi infiltrate from neighboring states, as the state shares borders with three states and two countries.
Governor Idris made this statement while addressing the press after a closed-door security meeting at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He highlighted that the state government has made substantial efforts to tackle security challenges over the past year.
The primary aim of the recent meeting, he noted, was to formulate strategies and plans for 2025.
To further strengthen the fight against banditry, Governor Idris revealed plans to bolster the operations of vigilante groups, which will work alongside security forces in the state.
As part of these initiatives, the government will provide 1,000 motorcycles to enhance the mobility and effectiveness of the vigilante groups.
