No serious damage caused by fire outbreak at NIPOST headquarters – Adewusi
The Post Master General/CEO of the Nigerian Poster service (NIPOST) Mr Abebayo Adewusi said on Wednesday that there was no cause for alarm over the fire outbreak that gutted the Headquarters of the agency in Abuja in the early hours (9am) of the day.
Mr Adewusi who confirmed the incident on his twitter page lauded the Federal Fire Service and the FCT fire department for their quick response in putting out the fire.
He said the incident only affected the office of staff posting under the personnel unit.
According to the NIPOST boss” no damage to any vital document was recorded”.
It has also caused no disruption to any of our operations, Mr Adewusi added.
The NIPOST Headquarters was gutted by an early morning fire, on Wednesday leading to panic and temporary disruptions of activities within and around the complex.
Few of the senior officials in the the building as well as security personnel were immediately evacuated, while firemen arrived on time and put out the fire without much damage to the building .
The cause of the incident could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
The incident however attracted a large crowd of people within and around the building which is located at Area 10, Garki, in Abuja.
