The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has condemned the recent attack in Mafa, located in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Over 34 people were killed as gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, looted and set ablaze shops and houses in the area on Sunday.

Days later, the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, labeled the attack a senseless act of violence that brought immense sorrow to the affected families and communities.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya expressed outrage and urged security agencies to identify and bring the perpetrators of this deadly assault to justice.

“This heinous crime must not go unpunished. I urge security agencies to intensify their efforts and ensure those responsible are quickly held accountable,” Yahaya stated.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of northern governors to supporting initiatives that promote peace and security in the region. The governor highlighted the need for collective action to prevent such tragedies from happening again, while extending his condolences to the bereaved families and the Yobe State government.

The NSGF Chairman also prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.
