Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC Kano command have apprehended an 85-year-old individual, Ibrahim Usman, on suspicion of kidnapping at Yar’adua quarters in Rimin Kebe, Ungogo LGA.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the suspect allegedly kidnapped a 3-year-old boy from his own neighborhood.

The statement revealed that the suspect tried to conceal the child at his friend’s place on Hotoro bye-pass in Kano State. However, upon sensing something suspicious, the friend declined to keep the boy and instead notified residents in Rimin Kebe, where the suspect resided and where the missing child had been sought.

According to him, “This development led the suspect to run away and he was later picked up by personnel of the Corp’s Ungogo division.

“Worthy of note is that the suspect had in the last two months collected the victim’s father’s phone number but never called him for once,” SC Abdullahi said.

Nevertheless, the Command’s Public Relations Officer disclosed that the investigation into the matter is well underway, and once completed, the suspect will face charges in court.
