NSCDC arrests eight oil thieves in Ajah, Lagos

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, on Thursday, paraded eight suspected oil thieves caught transporting petroleum products suspected to be adulterated diesel in Ajah, Lagos.

The suspects were arrested around Ajah Beach, during a routine patrol of the Anti – vandal unit of the Command, on Tuesday, July 18.

They were found transporting a boat carrying 13 industrial tanks loaded with about a thousand litres of diesel each, moving towards ‘Igbo Elejo from Lekki Free Trade Zone,’ on behalf of one Mr. Pius (now at large).

The suspects include Joshua Zira Lukas, ‘m’, 40; Gbenga Ifanaje, ‘m’, 49; Omodoru Fayowole, ‘m’ 57; Timilehin Ajonike, ‘m’, 40; Ogunfuyi Smart Kolawole, ‘m’, 29; Ademibo Omomowo, ‘m’, 35; Ayo Agidi Ogun, ‘m’, 47, and Ijitola Ilemobayo ,’m’ 40.

The State Commandant, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, who paraded them , yesterday, ordered the Intelligence and Investigation Department of the Command, to commence thorough investigation, in a bid to get to the root of the matter.

Alfadarai said exhibits were currently being held in the custody of the Command, while the suspects will be charged to court if found culpable after the conclusion of the investigation.

He also commended the Command’s personnel for the new operational success and advised intending criminals or those already familiar with the dastardly act to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
