As Christians across Kwara State prepare for Easter, the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Ilorin by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Michael, the State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, explained that the move is to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations and to stop troublemakers from causing chaos.

He assured residents that “the Corps’ presence will be visible and strategically positioned across churches, recreational centres, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other critical locations to deter criminal activities and ensure a safe festive period.”

He added that “surveillance and patrol operations have been intensified in both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response squads on standby to swiftly address any emerging threats.”

Bodinga also directed officers to act firmly against anyone with criminal intentions, especially those targeting public infrastructure.

He warned that individuals planning to disrupt peace during the Easter celebration should reconsider, emphasizing that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.

He further extended Easter greetings to Christians, encouraging residents to embrace love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence, while supporting security agencies to maintain a safe and peaceful celebration.
