NSCDC deploys 3,125 operatives for Yuletide in Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command yesterday, said it has deployed 3,125 officers and men to crack down unscrupulous criminal elements during the Yuletide celebrations in Lagos.

The State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed this in a statement at the State Command’s Headquarters, in Alausa, Ikeja.

He stressed that the officers have been strategically deployed to the various strategic and tactical locations, points, beats, relaxation spots, recreational parks, markets, worship centres (churches), religious gatherings, right of ways, critical national assets and infrastructure, belonging to the Federal, State and Local Governments, amidst other very important places, without neglecting the remote and coastal/riverine areas in the state.

Keshinro disclosed that these deployments were being drawn, from various departments and units, such as; Operation, Intelligence and Investigation, Anti-vandal, Armed Squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives ( CBRNE ) Unit, Area Commands and Divisions, Quick Intervention Squad (QIS ), Special Female Squad (SFS ), Agro Rangers, Crisis and Disaster Management, Counter-terrorism, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Public Relations, Marine, Airport and Anti-Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration Unit (ATHIMU ) among others.

He reassured Lagosians, of the command’s commitment, towards ensuring peaceful and conducive atmosphere, devoid of crimes and criminalities that could lead to the break down of law and order or the vandalisation of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), during this year’s 2024 Christmas and New Year celebrations respectively, in the state.

The commandant also affirmed that the Command has concluded its ‘Proactive Operational Deployment Strategy,’ in firm preparations for this year’s Yuletide, New Year celebration and Post New Year celebration.

He stressed that the command upheld the intentional and unfailing need for ‘interagency and intra – agency collaboration,’ to achieve optimal operational successes and safety, during this season of celebrations.

He charged personnel to work harmoniously, with themselves and all other security agencies, if they must achieve the best results in this season.

The Commandant, also seized this opportunity, to felicitate with Christians as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

He wishes Christians a merry and glorious Christmas celebrations and a Happy New year in advance.

The Lagos State Commandant also charged Christians, all Nigerians and foreigners, who are resident in the state to imbibe the virtues and principles of peace and compassion during the yuletide and the New Year celebrations as exhibited by Jesus Christ.

He also appreciated the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for their immense support towards the development of the Corps in Lagos.

Also, he appreciated the support from the entire cabinet of Lagos State Government as well as our strategic partners, security agencies such as; Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air force, Nigerian Police Force and all the paramilitary agencies and others.

He further thanked members of the press, who have also contributed immensely with their pen and wisdom to make the Command and the entire people of the state become direct or indirect beneficiaries of timely and appropriate information, sound and balanced reportage, objective reporting, with professional conducts and practices made possible through peaceful and smooth working relationships as well as love for country.
