Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says the Corps is actively involved in all joint operations geared towards enhancing national security.

Audi, on Friday in Abuja, said that the synergy between the Corps and other security agencies has been very cordial and effective.

He said that officers and men of the NSCDC were visibly involved in joint operations majorly lead by the military.

“We have very scientific synergy and a well coordinated approach is now established between our service and other security agencies, particularly with the Nigerian Army and Navy.

“We collaborate with the Army in most of the joint operations, then when we go to the creeks where we deal with oil thieves, the Navy comes into active role.

“We have just purchased some gunboats which the Minister of Interior commissioned in Port Harcourt recently and the Navy has volunteered to further train our personnel,” he added.

According to him, the synergy is not only very scientific and but also highly productive.

The CG, however, said that the corps has shortage of manpower and working towards recruiting more personnel.

“We need additional personnel because it is not easy to secure Nigeria with its land mass, but we are doing our best to make sure that we do our job very well,” Audi reassured.

Audi appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the recruitment of additional 10,000 people for the NSCDC.

“When I came on board I met that approval and we were able to conduct the first tranche of the recruitment.

“We are preparing and waiting for approval from government to embark on the second phase; when we finish all the processes that are involved, then we will conduct the second tranche of the recruitment,” he said. (NAN)
