NSCDC nabs 28-year-old woman in Oyo for alleged trafficking of 17-year-old girl abroad for prostitution
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State has arrested Kemi Kolawole, a 28-year-old woman, over allegations of trafficking a 17-year-old girl to an overseas destination for prostitution.
Kolawole, an indigene of Oyo town who resides in the Ifeleye Ogunpa area of Ibadan, was arrested on January 22 following a tip-off from the victim’s elder sister, Temilade, who had reported the matter to the NSCDC’s anti-human trafficking unit two days earlier.
The alleged offence reportedly occurred on November 25, 2025, when Kolawole and her husband, Oni Kayode, 32, were said to have deceived the teenager, identified as Ayomide, with false promises of employment before trafficking her abroad.
According to the NSCDC spokesperson, Samuel Opebiyi, the victim was introduced to the suspects through Rodiat Lawal, a friend and apprentice at Kolawole’s shop in Ogunpa market, where she trades in shoes, bags, slippers, and accessories.

Opebiyi disclosed that Kayode is currently at large as investigations continue.
He explained that Ayomide had approached Lawal in search of job opportunities, which led to her introduction to the couple who allegedly planned and executed the scheme.
Investigations revealed that the suspects reportedly took the victim to Côte d’Ivoire, where she was allegedly meant to be forced into prostitution.
“The victim reportedly approached Rodiat Lawal, expressing her desire to secure a job opportunity, after which she was introduced to the suspects. Rodiat Lawal is a friend of the victim, Ayomide,” Opebiyi said.
The Oyo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Augustine Padonu, said Kolawole would be charged to court once investigations are concluded, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend Kayode.
He also called on members of the public to report any suspicious activities linked to human trafficking, reaffirming the command’s resolve to combat the crime.
