NSCDC nabs pipeline vandal, rescues four underage girls from brothel

Operatives of Lagos Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a suspect, identified as Abiodun Samuel, for attempting to vandalise the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) pipeline along Governor Road in Ikotun area of Lagos. 

Samuel was arrested recently, following credible intelligence, and in demonstration of the command’ s commitment to safeguarding lives and critical national assets.

Acting spokesperson for the command, Olufemi Irionye, on Tuesday, said the suspect was caught in the act.

Irionye said the operation led to the rescue of four underaged girls, all of whom were being exploited and subjected to illegal activities.

Among the arrested suspects was Enem Peace Asuquo, ‘m,’ 38, believed to be the ringleader of the trafficking cartel.

Meanwhile, Lagos State NSCDC Commandant, Usman Alfadarai, has directed that the arrested suspects from both operations be brought to the State Command Headquarters, in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to the commandant, the Intelligence and Investigation Department, as well as the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Command, would conduct thorough interrogations and investigations to ensure the swift and just handling of these matters.
