NSCDC nabs ‘soldier’, two others for alleged burglary in Kwara
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has arrested one 41 years old AbdulKadir Bolaji and two other suspects for alleged burglary incidents in Lakele community, Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
Abdulkadir, the command said, had been parading himself as a soldier before his arrest.
The other suspects are Olalekan Adeniyi (32) and Dare Ajiboye (31).
Olalekan is said to own a shop where stolen items are allegedly displayed and sold to unsuspected buyers as Tokunbo (fairly used) materials, while Dare Ajiboye, who claims to be a deejay, was also working as a sales boy at Olalekan’s shop.
In a statement, spokesperson of the command, Babawale Afolabi, said that three suspects and others now at large were responsible for numerous cases of burglary and theft that had become rampant in the area.
Afolabi said: “In the past few months, there have been reported cases of burglary and theft in Lakele area, Oro, Irepodun Local Government of the state, and the community in collaboration with the NSCDC officers in the area decided to track down those behind the nefarious act.”
He stated further that efforts of the community and the NSCDC paid off recently when some of the stolen items were found at a shop in that community.
He said that further investigation revealed that stolen items from burglary and house breaking were being sold in the shop.
Items recovered from the shop include plasma TV sets, play stations and CCTV cameras (360 degrees) among others.
He added that the command had commenced a manhunt for other members of the gang while further investigation continued.
