NSCDC to prosecute officer for ‘supplying ammunition’ to Bandits

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to discipline and prosecute Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, an officer arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly supplying ammunition and hard drugs to bandits in the North-West region.

Sarkin-Tasha was apprehended and paraded by the police for reportedly providing ammunition and narcotics to bandits operating in the Mada district of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

NSCDC State Commandant Sani Mustapha, while speaking to journalists at the command headquarters in Gusau, condemned the officer’s alleged misconduct. He revealed that Sarkin-Tasha had previously been reported for irresponsible work behavior, but attempts to track him had been unsuccessful.

According to preliminary investigations, the officer was arrested at a checkpoint between the Damba and Sabon Gida areas while en route to his hometown, Mada. Authorities allegedly discovered cannabis and other hard drugs in his possession. Further searches at his residence led to the recovery of three G3 rifle armors, one anti-aircraft gun armor, and a total of four rounds of ammunition.
