The recently appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Alex Badeh, has committed to collaborating with pertinent agencies to prioritize safety and eliminate accidents in air, land, and water transportation within the country.
Badeh conveyed this information on Monday during his official assumption of duties from his predecessor, Akin Olateru, in Abuja.
He outlined his vision, emphasizing the goal of making Nigerian skies the safest in Africa. Badeh expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, for deeming him suitable for the appointment.
Badeh said, “As I take over this crucial agency, I do so with a distinct vision – not solely mine, but one harmoniously aligned with the visionary directives and foresight of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN.”
“The minister has charted a clear course through his five-point agenda for the ministry, under which the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau is domiciled.”
“I am honoured to be a part of the team navigating this course and I am fully committed to implementing the first point of the agenda, which focuses on ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and continuously enhancing Nigeria’s rating by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.”

He added, “I have seen the scars of tragedy, felt the sting of loss, and understand the ripple effect of a single accident.

The New DG noted that his vision was not to simply react to accidents but “we will proactively prevent them from occurring.”
