Obajana: Security council orders reopening of Dangote plant

The Obajana cement plant, which was shut down by the Kogi State Assembly last week, has been ordered to reopen by the National Security Council.

This directive was one of the decisions made at a security meeting on Friday in Abuja.

The council also suggested that any legal action be taken to settle any disputes, emphasizing that the government’s obligation to create jobs was non-negotiable.

According to reports, the Kogi Assembly last week ordered the shutdown of the Obajana Cement plant until the ownership dispute over the facility was settled.

The Kogi State Government claimed that the plant belonged to it entirely based on the documents that were at its disposal. Dangote Industries, however, denied this and asserted that the Kogi State Government had no ownership stake in the plant and was not entitled to any company dividends.
