2027: Obi not threat to Tinubu – Biodun Olujimi

Former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Senator Biodun Olujimi, has dismissed claims that Peter Obi’s oratory skills would challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, she said Obi’s 2023 strategy would no longer be effective.

“The rhetoric of the last election will not work again, unless he brings a new gimmick. Tinubu is a seasoned politician who knows the terrain,” she said.

Olujimi, who also served as Senate Minority Leader, asserted that Tinubu’s longstanding political experience makes him a formidable candidate in the next presidential race.

“This is the first time a thoroughbred politician is president. He understands governance, has worked with everyone, and supported governments in the past. Defeating him will be an uphill task,” she added.

Explaining her recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olujimi said the current APC is vastly different from the one she once criticised.

“The former APC isn’t the APC of today. This government is pragmatic and resolute, making tough decisions and sticking with them. That’s what made me join,” she explained.

Though acknowledging that it might seem unfair to leave the PDP that brought her to prominence, she said the party had lost direction and her grassroots supporters welcomed the move.

Olujimi maintained she would rather exit the PDP than remain and sabotage it internally. She also dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable alternative, citing its lack of grassroots structures in Ekiti.
