Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle after two commissioners resigned to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Friday in Asaba through a statement by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Pat Ajudua, has been assigned to oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Housing, Godknows Angele, will now oversee the Ministry of Youth Development with immediate effect.

Aniagwu explained that the changes followed the resignation of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Orode Uduaghan, and the Commissioner for Youth Development, ThankGod Trakiriowei.

“They resigned to pursue their political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections. The former commissioners stepped down to contest for seats in the Delta State House of Assembly,” Aniagwu said.

He added that Oborevwori expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service to the state and wished them success in their future political endeavours.

The statement also noted that the new supervisory arrangements take immediate effect, pending further directives from the state government.
