Odumosu debunks reports of EFCC chairman appointment

Former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, debunked reports that he was chosen as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu had appointed Odumosu to lead the anti-corruption agency were circulated on different media platforms on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, Odumosu refuted the claim, stating that it was false information spread by individuals with malicious intent. He advised the public to disregard the misinformation.

Odumosu said, “I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”.

“I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue. This information must have emanated from mischief makers and should be disregarded.”

Former EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa has been suspended by President Bola Tinubu. According to reports, Tinubu appointed Abdulkarim Chukkol as the acting head of the EFCC in response to Bawa’s suspension.
