Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has held a meeting with the council responsible for overseeing traditional and administrative affairs during the transition leading to the installation of a new Awujale of Ijebu-Ode.
Rasak Sekoni, the Information Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, disclosed that the meeting was held on Friday in Abeokuta.
During the session with the Transition Council, Governor Abiodun emphasized that the process of installing a new Awujale demands thorough planning and careful coordination.
He recalled that inaugurating the Council in August was necessary to sustain the traditional and administrative roles long associated with the Awujale Palace.
The governor was represented by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Ganiyu Hamzat.
Abiodun assured government support, stressing that the Council’s success was crucial to sustaining the legacy of late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
He urged the Council to be united, fair and unbiased in discharging their responsibilities in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
Abiodun further charged members to maintain neutrality when the process of filling the Awujale’s vacant stool formally begins.
