The Ogun State Government has closed Perfect Light, a private nursery and primary school situated in Eyinogbe, Sagamu Local Government Area, due to allegations of a sexual assault involving a minor.
It is reported that the school’s proprietor was accused of sexually abusing a child, leading to severe injury and bleeding.
The proprietor has reportedly been arrested as an investigation into the incident is underway.
During a visit to the school, Ronke Soyombo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, expressed her outrage over the alleged abuse and the poor conditions in which the students were learning.
She assured the community that the current administration, in collaboration with the Ogun State Police Force, is addressing the situation and will conduct a thorough investigation, promising legal action against the offender.
Soyombo reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring safe and supportive learning environments for all students in both private and public schools, regardless of their background. She urged parents to take proper care of their children and shield them from negative influences.
The Special Adviser also mentioned that the Ministry of Education is working closely with the State Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to provide medical examinations and support for the affected child.
Furthermore, Soyombo reassured parents that other students in the community will be registered at the nearest public primary school in Igode so that their education can continue without disruption, cautioning those who commit harmful acts to leave the state, as the current administration will not tolerate such behavior.
