Ogun offers N50m reward on killers of finance director

The Ogun State Government on Friday declared a N50 million reward for anyone providing information that leads to the apprehension of the perpetrators responsible for the death of Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, the former Director of Finance and Administration associated with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office, located at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

 

On Wednesday, November 29, 51-year-old Oyekanmi was fatally shot by gunmen at the Kuto Flyover Bridge in Abeokuta.

The victim, accompanied by two others, was ambushed by armed criminals while returning to the Governor’s Office with a substantial sum reportedly withdrawn from two major banks in Abeokuta.

The assailants killed the chartered accountant, originally from Ifonyintedo, and fled with the large amount of cash.

Expressing deep distress, Governor Dapo Abiodun vowed to exhaust all efforts to ensure the perpetrators face justice for the tragic killing of the senior civil servant.

In an official statement on Friday, the state government declared a cash reward of N50 million for anyone providing information that assists security agencies in apprehending the killers.

The statement partly reads “Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50m for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of the state’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on 30th November, 2023 in Abeokuta.

“Information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
