The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his administration’s dedication to ensuring the effective operation of mass transit buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The Ogun State government distributed CNG-powered buses to provide relief to its civil servants and employees in response to the removal of fuel subsidies.

Subsequently, Governor Abiodun unveiled his administration’s initiative to introduce CNG-fueled mass transit buses for students on campuses throughout the state.

He also revealed that the Ogun State government has successfully established an advanced gas refilling station in the strategically positioned area of Obada Oko to ensure the efficient refueling of these buses.

Abiodun in a post on X (formerly Twitter) late Thursday night, said this station is equipped with cutting-edge facilities to guarantee efficient gas supply for Ogun State’s CNG buses, ultimately leading to emission reduction and the promotion of a cleaner environment.

“In addition, I am pleased to inform you that our administration is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure across the state to support the operations of the CNG buses,” he said.“Specifically, we are working diligently to establish gas refueling stations along the major routes and terminals.”

“These stations will be strategically located to ensure ease of access and convenience for both our passengers and bus operators.”

Abiodun emphasized that through these initiatives, the government’s objectives are twofold: to improve the overall efficiency of bus services and to make a significant contribution to a sustainable future by reducing the environmental footprint of its operations.

With the adoption of CNG buses, he further noted that his administration is actively decreasing harmful emissions, which, in turn, enhances air quality and fosters a healthier environment for the residents of Ogun State.
