The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman, Odeale Fatimah, for allegedly using a razor blade to inflict severe cuts on her 10-year-old ward, Olasunkanmi Oluwadamilare, in the Obada-Oko area of Ogun State.

Reports indicate that Fatimah accused the boy of stealing ₦600 to buy ice cream for his friends. As punishment, she allegedly used a razor blade to inflict deep cuts on the back of his hand, leaving him severely injured.

Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

The case was brought to the police by the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Obada-Oko unit, led by Coordinator Olagbegi Moses.

“On January 13, 2025, NAPPS, Obada-Oko unit, reported the incident at the station, bringing the 10-year-old victim, a student of Dinamis Private School, with deep cuts on his hand,” Odutola said.

Upon interrogation, the boy disclosed that his guardian, Odeale Fatimah, was responsible for the injuries.

Fatimah was subsequently arrested and confessed to the act, claiming she injured him because he stole ₦600.

“Investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided,” Odutola added.
