Okupe withdraws as Peter Obi’s running mate

Doyin Okupe, the director general of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization, announced his resignation as the Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate on Thursday.

Okupe, who shared this information via his verified Twitter account @doyinokupe, said that his party would soon reveal Peter Obi’s new running mate.

“This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC. A replacement will be announced by d national chairman of d party shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success 4 the LP,” Okupe tweeted.

According to reports, the Labour party chose Okupe as its temporary vice presidential candidate in order to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline, just as the ruling All Progressives Congress.
