Olakulehin for coronation as Olubadan July 12

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be crowned as the traditional ruler of the ancient town on Friday, July 12.

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, Governor Seyi Makinde will, at a ceremony slated for Mapo Hall, present Staff of Office to Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The stool became vacant following the demise of Oba Lekan Balogun on March 14, 2024.

The Ibadan kingmakers, at a meeting held on April 12, 2024, nominated and selected Oba Olakulehin as the Olubadan-designate in accordance with the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957.

Makinde gave the approval in a memo dated June 14, 2024.

In the statement on Friday, the government asked Ibadan people to learn to be patient.

“Our people must learn to be patient and believe an administration that has not let them down in five years,” the statement read.

Oyelade said insinuations and mischievous innuendos had not derailed Makinde from the path of justice and fairness.

He advised the people of Oyo State and Ibadan in particular to await the spectacle of the coronation and presentation of the staff of office on July 12.
