A Labour Party governorship aspirant in Edo State Olumide Akpata has debunked the allegation that he financed the assault on certain party leaders affiliated with the Lamidi Apapa group.
A video depicting an assault on members of the Apapa group in Edo State gained widespread attention on social media.
However, Akpata disavowed any connection to the incident, dismissing the accusation as an effort to tarnish his reputation.
He addressed these allegations during his appearance on the Friday edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party in Edo State refuted rumors suggesting that it had requested Akpata, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), to withdraw from the gubernatorial race.
The party maintained that the source of this claim is not a party member. Sam Uruopa, the party’s spokesperson in Edo State, clarified this in an interview with Channels Television in Benin City.
