Forty-eight suspected criminals have been apprehended by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, for various crimes committed across the state in the past week.
Among the suspects, two are females. They were arrested for offenses including armed robbery, kidnapping, attempted murder, burglary, housebreaking, fraud involving fake POS bank alerts, cultism, theft, violating the anti-open grazing law, and assault.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects and displayed include two cars, a live goat, a generator, clothing materials, electric transformer cables, and counterfeit dollar notes.
During a press briefing at the Amotekun Corps headquarters in Akure, the state commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that all the suspects, some caught in the act, confessed to their crimes.
Adeleye stated that over 600 suspects apprehended by the corps in the past six months are currently being prosecuted and will be sent to correctional facilities if found guilty.
He also noted that the rate of kidnapping in the Ose Local Government Area has significantly decreased due to the constant patrolling and heavy presence of the Amotekun Corps.
Regarding the recent Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Adeleye mentioned that the Amotekun Corps maintained vigilance and surveillance throughout the state, resulting in minimal crime during the period.
He warned individuals with criminal intentions to desist or leave the state, emphasizing that they will be apprehended by the corps.
