A 38-year-old laborer named Moses Udoh has been ordered to be placed on remand at the Olokuta Correctional Center by an Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure, the state capital, for allegedly sexually abusing his 11-year-old daughter.

A two-count accusation of indecent sexual assault of a juvenile and threat of death was brought against Udoh at his arraignment.

Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime at his home at No. 20 Igboniki Street, Akure, on November 26, 2024, at 10.20 p.m.

Oniyere claims that Udoh has repeatedly harmed his 11-year-old biological daughter by forcing sexual relations with her.

The defendant threatened to kill the victim if she told anybody about his wrongdoings, the prosecutor disclosed.

According to the victim’s account of her trauma, her father, Udoh, frequently had sex with her in his room and would frequently threaten to kill her if she confided in anybody.

Quoting her: “My father has been forcefully having sexual intercourse with me through my front and my back.

“He started it when I was 10 years old and I cannot count the number of times he has done it.

“Whenever my father was sleeping with me in the night, he would increase the volume of his MP 3 radio, so that my voice would not be heard by neighbours around.

“He instructed me not to tell our neighbours about it and also threatened to kill me and the person.

“When I noticed that blood was coming out of my anus, which is now causing discomfort for me, I decided to tell his sister,” the victim narrated.

Sections 25(a) and 86(2) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2021 are violated by Udoh’s offense.

In order to obtain legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) office, Oniyere petitioned the court to remand the defendant to the penitentiary facility.

Magistrate Temilola Olusola-Olujobi’s decision mandated that the defendant be placed under detention in the Olokuta Correctional Center in Akure.

However, because of the victim’s advanced age, the magistrate ordered the matter to be transferred to the Family Court and postponed the trial until December 10, 2024.
