The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, narrowly escaped death at the weekend after his two-vehicle convoy was involved in a road accident along the Ore–Ondo highway.

The crash reportedly involved Ojogo’s vehicle and a commercial bus, leaving some members of his entourage injured.

Ojogo, who recently secured a return ticket to the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was said to have escaped without serious injuries.

The lawmaker was travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement when the accident occurred.

Preliminary reports attributed the crash to the driver of the commercial bus, who was allegedly attempting a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

Ojogo also accused the commercial bus driver of reckless driving and impatience, noting that the incident could have had a more tragic outcome.

“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” he said.

The lawmaker confirmed that those who sustained injuries in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

He expressed gratitude that no life was lost, describing the outcome as an act of divine intervention.

Ojogo also thanked God for protecting him and members of his team, while warning about the dangers posed by reckless driving on major highways.
