Ondo Sea Port will boost economy- Commissioner

The Ondo State Government on Wednesday said that the Ondo Deep Sea Port when functional would create massive job opportunities and boost the nation’s economy.

Prince Boye Ologbese, Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora, Ondo State, said this at the 2022 Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in Abuja.

Ologbese, explained that projecting and redesigning the Ondo Deep Sea Port for export business of the nation would not only balance up the forex market, but also create job opportunities, especially in the South West region.

He added that the theme of the summit “Investment Opportunities in Ondo State” was deliberately coined in line with the vision and ‘Redeemed Agenda’ of the present Administration of Gov Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

He noted that the theme was geared towards driving the key business potentials for socio-economic development, especially when technology was fast moving ahead of the county’s crude oil.

According to him, as a means of revenue for the nation and our forex market which is unstable, projecting and designing our Ondo Deep Sea Port for export business of the nation will not only balance up the forex market.

“It will strengthen our naira and also create a lot of employment opportunities for our young teaming youth in the entire South West region.

“The summit is, therefore, aimed at positioning Ondo State in the investment destination among the top three most competitive states in Nigeria in terms of accelerated growth, increased economic opportunities and improved quality of life for the citizenry.

“It is also aimed at promoting investment opportunities and fostering synergy, as well as partnership between government institutions and private sectors, who are critical players in the socio-economic development of the nation.

“It is for this reason that Ondo State Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations was created, with the objectives of providing strategic advice and support for the government in promoting economic development and attracting investors within and in  the diaspora.

“It will interest you to know that proper engagement of our Diasporas will drive the economic growth of this country.”

He expressed  confidence that investors and businessmen would leave the summit with increased knowledge about the opportunities for investment in Ondo State with greater optimism for the future.

“As a government, we are looking forward to the resolution of this summit for implementation.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN), reports that the NDIS has as it theme: “Optimising Investment Opportunities for National Development”.

NAN also reports that the summit which would end this Thursday is focus on Ondo state investment opportunities.
