Ondo senator decries bad condition of federal roads

Nicholas Tofowomo, the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has urged the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to immediately fix all of the state’s damaged federal roads.

Tofowomo bemoaned the poor condition of the federal roads in the state and urged FERMA to take immediate action since he claimed that substandard roads were to blame for the majority of the state’s traffic accidents.

This was revealed on Monday by the senator, who serves as the deputy chairman of the Senate Committee on Land Transportation, in a statement provided by his media assistant, Mr. Olumide Akinrinlola.

He insisted that FERMA needs to fix the road immediately because the holiday season is just around the corner and people would be traveling.

He said, “Most of the accidents in Ondo State are due to bad portions of the federal roads across state. Many lives have been claimed by bad portions of federal roads, especially on Okitipupa-Ore road in Ondo State.

“Now Christmas is near, I am calling on FERMA to fix all the bad portions of the federal roads across the state most especially that of Ore-Okitipupa which is currently in abysmal condition.

“All the roads must be fixed within a short period especially now that we are approaching the festive period.”
