A fatal crash at Idi-Iroko, inward Ogolonto on Ikorodu Road, has claimed one life and left two others injured.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the accident in a statement on Tuesday.
According to LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Taofiq Adebayo, the collision occurred when a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus (registration number LND 490 SD), recklessly vying for right of way from the Agric axis, rammed into a fast-moving articulated truck (plate number EKY 121 YJ).
“Security operatives found that the Mazda bus and the articulated truck collided while the bus driver was competing for right of passage along the main carriageway,” Adebayo said.
In the crash, a passenger seated at the doorway of the bus was thrown out and crushed beneath the rear tyres of the truck, dying instantly. Two other passengers, a man and a woman, sustained serious injuries and were taken by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to Ikorodu General Hospital for urgent treatment.
The body of the deceased was released to the family by police officers. Personnel from Owutu Police Division provided security cover during the rescue operation, while LASTMA officials cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow.
Adebayo extended condolences to the bereaved family.
